Emma Yeo is a rising star in the world of millinery. A relative newcomer, she has already gained a reputation for creating sophisticated handmade and luxurious headwear fusing an organic aesthetic and architectural silhouette. Her unique ‘biomorphics’ use only the finest materials and cutting edge techniques and reflect her multimedia background.
After studying multi-media textiles at Loughborough University, Emma Yeo moved back to her home town, Brighton, where she started her career creating interior textile installations, receiving commissions from a number of London’s prestigious businesses such as Coutts, Berkley’s & Rothschild. Emma pursued her interest in fashion & craftsmanship & was awarded a scholarship from AHRC to take up a place on the MA Design Jewellery course at the prestigious Central Saint Martins. It was here that Emma discovered her passion for fashion adornment and applied her design skills to headwear.

The use of fine, laser-cut wood is Emma’s signature style. Her trademark feature is a sophisticated hybrid-design philosophy, innovatively combining cutting-edge technology with sympathetic craftsmanship. Emma tailors complex linear details and silhouettes into sculptural adornment that effortlessly evoke an organic aesthetic.

Emma Yeo has already received a number of awards including Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Award, Ascot “Queen’s Hat” award and the IT#S NINE YKK award. The latter set her course to produce her AW2011 collection which promptly attracted the support of the Arts Council and some of the industry’s top designers including Victor & Rolf and Pearce Atkinson. Emma Yeo’s work has been featured in Vogue Italy and Turkey, VogueIT.com, Volt, Another, Dazed & Confused, ID and Portfolio magazines.
Gaining increasing recognition from the fashion industry, Emma Yeo has been working on commissions from both celebrities and art collectors. Recently her work has featured in Selfridges showcase alongside work by Philip Treacy, Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Stephen Jones.
Emma Yeo designs hats for confident, stylish and artistic women with a passion for craftsmanship and a taste for the individual.
